I'm off to Kansas!

Joanna the godsend and I are winging our way to Wichita this weekend. We're very much looking forward to seeing everyone attending the conference!

The blog will be dark for the duration; I'm taking my spiffy new Kindle, not my laptop this time.

All email will be read by my asssssistant, but as you can see, working the keyboard is a bit of a challenge..and the voice activated software wasn't too sssssuccessful either.

  1. i've been to Wichita once in 1997 when I was 15. There are nice small Amish farms through-out Kansas when we went on a field trip. We were the only non-white, non-Christian, South Asian Muslims dressed in Indian clothes. It was so funny how everyone stared at us.

  2. I visited a friend in Kansas for two weeks one time. We drove out to the middle of nowhere to find something and ended up lost. All the hiways and roads look EXACTLY the same, and it was noon, so I couldn't tell what direction we were going, and we had no map whatsoever. To top it all off, my friend had to pee, really, really badly.

So badly that she made me stop at every farm we drove by so she could ask if she could use the bathroom. No one was home, and we eventually found our way back to town before her bladder broke.

  3. I guess there isn't really a non-lame way to make a joke out of "you're not in Kansas anymore" like I want to.

  5. You all make Kansas sound like the Tundra.
It is one of the 50 states.

  7. Kansas loves Janet and Joanna. They gave Kansas Writers a fabulous workshop and they were funny, too. Thanks again ladies - You Are The Best!
