  2. We watched the lander touch down live- Canadian TV did a live feed with NASA. You would have thought I built the darn thing I was so excited when it landed safe.

  7. It's really exciting that a new probe has landed on Mars - this time at the ice cap, sent there to find water, and maybe life.

  9. As a university undergrad, I did some analysis of soil data transmitted back by the Viking probes. Even dealing with third-hand data, I was excited. Just knowing that Mars is out there, solid, reachable, and completely alien, solidified my love of the planet.

    The latest pictures... well, there are no words for the effect of that kind of magic.
