Woo hoo!

I usually ride about an hour a day, depending on the weather. If it's actively precipitating, or the wind blows the saddle pad off before I can get the saddle on, I don't ride. Which, here in SoCal where snow plows are only stored at elevations over 5000 feet, meant a 7-hour traffic backup and CHP escorts on the roads into Los Angeles. Our neighbors were out in that. Glad I stayed home.

It's currently 60 degrees [bbbrrrrrrr] and hubby and kids are outside setting up our holiday decorations. One of the perks of living in SoCal is we get to complain loudly about the weather and we basically have no idea what "real weather" is.

Congrats Jennifer!

Dena Pawlinghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14444683810125395220noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17040756.post-62912416920663590692019-12-01T18:01:39.660-05:002019-12-01T18:01:39.660-05:00Snow, snow, sleet, rain, snow, snow, drifting snow...Snow, snow, sleet, rain, snow, snow, drifting snow, blowing snow, more snow. We're hoping for better sometime in the next few months (hey, I can always dream).

I've been living in this general area for 44 years and I do seem to remember winters were less harsh years back. Maybe it was a localized, late 90s and early 2000s phenomenon (the term El Nino comes to mind), but I seem to remember several days in the 60s and even above peppered through the winter months. My wife took my newborn son for walks on the Erie Canal in December 2006. Mid 40s and 50s, and I don't see a return to those temps until April at least (hope I'm wrong on that one!).

So yeah, climate conundrums. The result of global warming? I'm no scientist and don't profess to have an idea, and maybe I'm just older now, but paradoxically, it sure seems a lot colder now.

Jennifer Donahue , congrats on that accomplishment. I can be a workaholic at times and I'm in awe! Never did 75K in a month. So we had our playdate early, right as the snow was starting, and we got a good three inches at the dog park. It seems to have lulled for now, though, my car isn't even really covered. Both colleges have already canceled classes for tomorrow, though they also opened the dorms early for students returning from holiday travel.

I finished the draft of my NaNoWriMo novel yesterday at a shade over 75k words. I'm going to let it sit for a bit, maybe write a short story or so in the meanwhile, and then reread it, edit it, reread it, edit it......and write a query letter.Jennifer R.
