The craziest cats I have had were both single kittens.<br /><br />Cats learn a lot of their social habits from their siblings. Things like how far they can go before the shit hits the fan. Turns out, most ginger cats are male, because the gene is on the X-chromosome. Therefore, males only need one X-chromosome that makes them ginger, while females need 2. So she needs both parents to be orange or calico. All calicos or torties are female, though. My nephew named her when he was a kid.<br /><br />A lot of people find it hard to believe that she's female. There seems to be a myth that all ginger cats are male. Of course her name doesn't help matters.<br /><br />Lisa - I winced when I read about your cat's fall. Ouch! Ooee isn't keen on being patted on her back as a result of her injuries.
