Blog Hiatus Day One

I'm at ThrillerFest this week, making writers miserable from 9-5.
I thought it would be fun to see reading/writing spaces from the blog community.

I just finished the book you sent me. I enjoyed it very much, so thank you again! I did yell at the narrator a bit, when he was going off on  his own and drinking the coffee at the end. Come on, Tony, wake up! I kept shouting in my head. It did make for an exciting ending.

Also, off topic, my art room had only beige walls, so I taped up one big wall and went to Lowe's and then painted a mural. It has wolves  running through a birch forest, monochrome in shades of turquoise. I added a few turquoise crows flying along top the other wall. It is really something to consider for someone who likes walls painted.

I can NOT believe you FAILED!!! FAILED!!!! to send me a picture of the
mural!!!!!!

Dear Lennon:
I'd love to see your mural!!
When you have a moment will you snap a photo and send it to me?
Yours most truly,

"perfidy of friends" - thank you for the new word and the chuckle. Hate to say it, but your outrage totally made my day.

As per requested, pics are below. I am a strong supporter of before, (during), and after photos, so. You got three. Actually four because I painted some birds. The framed picture on the wall is from Melanie(Sue Bowles). She is a lovely soul (as you know), and we share an odd love of crows.

Hmm...I think that wall is missing a giraffe :)

But I still love it!

Lennon, Pleeez come paint my walls. Your choice of what to paint. Send me a list of supplies. I'll have them waiting for you. As well as all the homemade fudge you can eat.

Cool space! Lots of room for imagination to play there. For anyone who's into crows: https://www.randysplanet.com/2013/12/the-mind-of-the-crow/ Go for the sledding crow; stay for the descriptions of crow funerals and premeditated vehicular squirrelslaughter. Corvids are fascinating animals.

Caw caw!

Sorry. I speak crow with an accent.

Whoa, Lennon can you come paint my writing space, please? This is so beautiful. I love it so much. So much.

What a great writing and creating art space, Lennon.

FANTASTIC art room wall!

That kind of thing is what I'd love the covers of my werewolf trilogy to look like....should I ever get books 2 and 3 to my liking.

Thank you, all!

I have several other ideas for artwork around the house. The current favorite of my significant other: a large (3 X 4 foot) oil painting of Princess Leia rocking out with a guitar, Darth Vader singing and storm troopers dancing in background.

Fearless Reider, I'll check it out. Amy, fudge?! Count me in! Cecilia, when I visit some day I'll paint a giraffe on your wall! 2Ns Caw caw-caw. Where'd you grow up? ha!

You all are too kind and funny. Thank you all for your words.

E.M, I saw your comment from yesterday. Congratulations! I (and I'm sure many other Reiders) feel like we've watched this journey. I am raising a glass (coffee) to you!

Empty wall? No bookcases in front? Confused.

Lennon: keep those pics in a safe place. Things will probably start getting cluttered.

The best laid plans. I built work tables, computer tables and a wall of shelves for art supplies. Then came the search for the perfect 400 pound paper, the green you can picture, but not make, borrow or buy. In case you didn't know it, Phthlao Green is the spawn of Satan.

Then come brushes, brushes and brushes, art books, half finished stuff that got set aside because you could not quite figure out why it didn't work, but is too good to muddy up by trying to fix it.

This is a very subtle thing. One day you wake up and realize that you have created a black hole of a money pit. It was damn fun too.

Total admiration.

I am to decorating what vanilla is to Baskin-Robbins. Or something like that. I can't even muster up a decorating metaphor.

Regardless, I'm jealous.

I screw up those paint-by-number kits. I admire folks like Lennon who can draw and paint.

Lennon,

I love this so much. Will James, youngest son, went to boot camp the summer between junior and senior year. What a fun vacation that was.

We were still remodeling the house, but I decided come devil or the deep blue sea, his room would be finished and it was. He is a huge history buff, especially the Civil War, so that was the theme and it turned out quite well. He was thrilled with it. I guess it made up in part for the alligator marches.

Having said that, it was nothing, nothing, like what you did. I am in total awe. Well done.

Elise,

Congratulations! I had to go hunt up what happened. Good job, gal.

Love the room, Lennon. I'm fortunate enough to have had an artist in the family and I inherited many of her paintings. So our silver beige (yup, that's the colour name) walls are the neutral background to show off her work (and other artist's work she had in her possession when she passed). Sadly I didn't get any of her talent.

Elise, like Julie I had to go hunt up yesterday's news. Well done! Super news.

It's ten to one o'clock in the morning and I'm hiding from Fiancé in the toilet (he said to me I should not always be in blog-world at this time of the day, err night... but I had no time before now... Elise, my congrats on whatever it was that I haven't caught up with yet from yesterday, but I trust this community here :) ).

Maybe something is terribly wrong with me, cause I'm not surprised by these pictures. Haven't I/we seen these before. Or am I THAT confused - yeah, it IS late.

But I LOVE that email exchange! Janet, I wish to have a reason why you spank (is that the word to use?) in the same way as you did Lennon. Love it, Rumpelstiltskin!

And of course, Lennon, you know I love this Faris!!

Katja said...

*spank me?

Luralee said...

I love the wolf wall!

Katja, I think you are looking for the past tense of speak? (Spoke) or the future tense (will speak) spank is...er...not the right word. It could lead to hilarious and/or awkward miscommunication.

Lennon Faris said...

Yes, I don't think "spank" is the precise word - I think that's reaching into another genre ;)

(Katja, your bilingual/ trilingual abilities astound me, I hope you know by now).

Thank you all again.

Lennon, I cannot get over how beautiful your wall is. I was jealous the first time and now jealousy has very clearly given way to some unhealthy envy of your room and your skill! Thanks again for sharing!

Elise, way to go on finishing up your latest WIP. Can’t wait to see you flourish in the trenches!

Katja, I’m with Luralee on this one. I don’t think spank is the word you are looking for. But definitely a good guess! I sure as heck wouldn’t want to try sussing out German words only using contextual clues. I had to try with Polish and let’s just say it did not go well for my friends who asked me to guess (it’s a long, inappropriate, but hilarious story)

Katja, I agree, I've seen the photos before, maybe on Twitter? Lennon?
