Saturday night. Federal election here and voting is Saturday so the bombardment of election advertising and political preschool shenanigans will finally stop. Plus I have to cook democracy sausage sizzle all day (8hrs!!). Ugh.

Saturday night will find me on the lounge, tucked under a comfy blanket, cuppa in one hand, dog under the other and Eurovision semi-final 2 on TV. Bliss.

When the rain eventually stops, I hope to get my summer veggie plants into the garden. I started them from seeds indoors weeks ago, and they are ready for their new home. Very exciting! (I don't know why everyone in my house isn't as oh-so-excited about these plants as I am. Truly puzzling.) Even better, guess who gets to take care of grandbaby Natalie this coming weekend?!

Thank you, Kitty. That sent me down a rabbit hole! Dangerous place here. I'm looking forward to seeing my son, who'll be home between jobs this week. Today, I hope to get some more flower gardening done.

Kitty, a couple 6- and 4-yo's I know regularly request "Mama Cass" and her music. Mostly "Make Your Own Kind of Music" which I love bc not only is it great music, it really is applicable to so much of life. Plus it's fun to dance to with 6- and 4-yo's :)

Sorry I've been away. Busy weekend. I too find it hard to resist The Container Store. And as always, the storytelling in that post was fantastic.

Looking forward to? Got several big life changes coming up, and I've got that antsy feeling humans get when they face same. I'm looking forward to knowing more specifics.

Kitty, my Monday refrain is usually Monday, Monday or Rainy Days and Mondays.

I'm looking forward to Wednesday, when I officially become a lady who lunches. I'm attending a library fundraiser that has Celeste Ng as guest speaker.

And this week I'll be finishing ch. 5 of my WIP. I've been hanging out with the Army of the Potomac for a long time now.

Ah, so much to look forward to this week! After being ill all of last week, I look forward to hopefully feeling better at some point this week. And I have some hope that the first of my hydrangeas might start to flower, which would be absolutely gorgeous. I have another 90 assignments to grade by Friday, but once that is over (hopefully...), I'll swan off to an overseas research secondment for a month, so that's exciting. Oh, and on Friday night (right before the swanning off) I get to see Ian McKellen live at the theatre, which I count as an immense once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Maybe at that point I'll actually be fever-free. That would be the cherry on top!

Jennifer I just found the Container Store post also. I loved the posts and shall probably meander back to comment more on some things that were said. I used to rent costumes from a theater in Midland, Texas for the Surrey writer's conference. One year a friend and I went as Hobbit girls complete with hairy feet. A woman in the restaurant mistook me for a waitress and I, with proper Hobbit accent and attitude explained with hand on hip and wagging finger, I most certainly was NOT a waitress. I was a Hobbit.

Luckily, they all had a sense of humor and were rolling. I did fetch them a waitress.

Anyway, the lady at the theater used to give me the most marvelous vintage hats that had been gifted to the theater by a wealthy lady. They came complete with their hat boxes, which are wonderful containers. Alas, my movers didn't realize how fragile they are and just chunked them in the U-Haul, so many did not fare well.

Old hat boxes are great containers. The container I am now searching for is an antique breadbox. If I can't fine one I like, I'll build a new one.

On to today's subject. What am I doing today. Wrangling with Rain Crow. Trying to pare down more words. As super agent said about Far Rider, I may have ten pounds of story in a five pound bag again. I'm cutting more people and arcs and hoping it's not too much.

This week will be for research and list making. Everything we need to know, and everything we need to do to radically change our lives in one year. Scary. But also exciting.(Jennifer, I can relate! Hope yours are good life changes.)

AJ, "democracy sausage sizzle" sounds delicious! Here we have plain old hot dogs.

Jennifer, I too hope those are good life changes!!

Well, I'm looking forward to holding my book in the flesh very soon (maybe not quite this week but maybe yes). Am I allowed to tell everyone here??

My book is coming out this July (self-published, so no, I don't have an agent), and I actually can't wait to show people my cover and things. Problem is that Fiance is the most patient person in the world and I'm possibly the most impatient one, and he tells me to wait a few more weeks.

I even ran a poll on Twitter yesterday (just for fun ;) ) to ask people if it was too early to reveal my cover (result: 10 - 11).

But, if you ask me, it's not too early ;), ha ha, so would you like to peek at my cover? It's on my brand new website (which I'm still building!). It doesn't show the back (which is also cool), but hey, it's a compromise between patient and impatient :).

You could head over to www.katjagschulz.com and have a quick look :).

Two Reiders already know, so... Anyway, ha.

Looking forward to the Laser and Lights show this week at Shoshone Falls in Idaho (the "Niagara of the West")! I'm thinking it's going to be a great setting for a murder mystery ... Ha!

Wednesday is splash day.
This is the day I wait for all winter.
This is when my boat goes into the water for the summer.
Summer officially starts on Wed.
It's five o'clock somewhere!

I'm looking forward to this rain ever ending. Ulrike's Sunday playdate was pushed 'til this evening (the mud at the dog park, the mudddd) but I think we're just going to end up canceled.

I'm looking forward to (I think?) edits for at least one and maybe two short stories whose pub dates are looming. I'm looking forward to finding out responses on "pending, held" stories but that's not necessarily this week.

I'm looking forward to getting my bangs trimmed (once I get myself off the couch...)

I'm looking forward to digging into the sequel to the cyberpunk novella I published last year.

Monday is much like any other day when you work at home. Occasionally I am tempted to quote Maggie Smith (as Granny in Downton Abbey) when she archly asked, “What is this ‘weekend’ you speak of?”

I'm looking forward to figuring out how to end the book I'm working on. If that ever happens... I just keep writing stuff, hoping I'll recognize the right ending when I hit on it. I've never had this problem before. Usually I write the ending early on so I have somewhere to aim. This time I didn't for some reason. Now I know why I do that.

Three nights in a row above 50 degrees so I can get the veggie plants I am picking up Wednesday from a local CSA, in the garden! We almost had a fire in the hearth yesterday. This is mid May in Michigan and we're all still wearing jackets and the rain has been relentless. Ugh...

Couple of things that I'm hoping for, rather than looking forward to.

First is that we find out what the problem is with my better half's health.

The second is business related. I hope my order gets to the top of a back-order list. Need a length of pultrated carbon tube to finish an SUP and get it sold. I have four companies ready to auction for it.

The shortage of the stuff dates back to way before Christmas. The drone building companies bought up all the stocks of it and still want more.

My fraternal twins turn 25 today! Later this week one of the twins will graduate with her Master's in Education. Her older sister just received her Master's in Education Administration last weekend. This proud father is looking forward to being the least educated in the family.

Julie ... hat boxes are indeed the best.

Katja ... Thanks for the good wishes. Changes are good, but bigger than expected. Further bulletins as events warrant. And to you ... congratulations! Will definitely come by your web site some time.
