Parade of Pets Day 18

Benny and Bjorn

These are my two foster puppies, Benny and Bjorn (yes, they are named after ABBA) sharing a stick in the yard.

They were part of a litter of 12, with a mother who was rescued from the streets a day or two before giving birth. The pups are four months old now and have been with me since they were eight weeks.

They’re growing by leaps and bounds and they are slowly (okay, not so slowly) enmeshing themselves into our home and lives.

To be honest, we will probably end up foster failures, with one or both of these guys staying permanently.

AAAAHHHHH PUPPIES

They look so very nice and velvety soft! Puppy paw are a very big deal for me. And I love their little half-upright ears...you wonder how that's going to mature.

I wouldn't blame you for being a foster failure! I suspect it is 100% what would happen with me, were I to try to "foster" a pet.

Yay for puppies and for foster failures!

Aaawww, theses guys are adorable! Fortunate Human Who Gets to Spend Time with Benny and Bjorn, I can see why you may end up a foster failure. I'm sure they're thankful you responded to their "S.O.S." And each is thinking, "Take a Chance on Me," but it doesn't have to be only "One of Us" or "The Winner Takes It All." Keep us both!

Let us know how the "fostering" goes. ;)

I could never foster.
Our Hitch (seen here a couple of days ago) is/was my daughter's dog. We volunteered to care for him because their new landlord did not allow pets.
"Temporary," they said.
"Sure temporary," we said.
That was six years ago.
Foster, nope...I'd fail.
I'd like to say Hitch stole our hearts but actually we gave our hearts away to the little guy. I think you have done the same.

Nope, that's why I don't foster. I would keep them all. Who wouldn't want to keep these sweeties, though?

I too would be a foster fail. Especially if I was fostering two as cute as these are. They really made me smile this morning.

Beyond darling... And yes, I'd say it's a good bet you're gonna keep 'em.

Speaking of fostering, may I plug a book? Author (and real life good friend) Cara Sue Achterberg wrote a memoir about her family fostering over 50 dogs. Wonderful, hopeful stories. ANOTHER GOOD DOG.

Holy guacamole! Those two are the cutest puppies ever. I mean, look at those faces, and those socks, and those ears! They're so adorable it's practically a crime. Well, OP, if you "fail," it will be the best failure of all time.

OP here, and as an update, one of the pups (Bjorn) just got adopted by a great family (with two other dogs!) and we're officially keeping the other one (Benny). So I'm only a halfway foster failure... that's halfway successful, right?

Claire Bobrow said...

I'd say that's a big success, JKO. It's great to know Bjorn went to a great home, and congratulations on Benny becoming an official part of your own family!

Here's the link to Another Good Dog mentioned by Melanie Sue Bowles above.
Check it out for the cover if nothing else!

(The Duchess of Yowl is not amused)

Aw, they're adorable. Look at those big soft paws. They're not going anywhere.

Yay for JKO on your thoroughly successful fostering!

Cara Sue Achterberg has a great blog, too, and I love reading her posts. JKO, congrats on the addition to your family.

JKO congrats on the new family member.

People who foster are my favorite people. Fostering a dog saves two lives- the dog you foster and the dog you made room for at the shelter. Thank you for opening your heart and home!

On first glance at this picture, I swear it looked like a two-headed dog. My first thought was "Please let him be named Fluffy!" :)

Those two look amazing though. OP, I'm so glad one was adopted and that Benny is still with you. I love pet adoption stories!
