Hiatus Day Three

Mikey

Mikey passed away two years ago at the age of twelve due to what we believe was undiagnosed cancer. He was truly the chillest cat you could ever meet--it was like he had his own breed of coolness. His passing was fairly traumatic because it was so unexpected and it broke my heart, but you've gotta stay grateful for every animal you have the gift of loving. He was my gift.

Mikey looks like he is very content; the love shows.

Magnificent feline. Our animals leave us all too soon.

And how lucky you were to have Mikey and he to have you.

I'm a lurker here. I always read your posts and the comments, have been fortunate to have you answer questions I've submitted, but I don't believe I've ever commented. Until now. I'm a dog and cat lover, and looking at that photo of your beloved Mikey made me smile. I imagine he was affectionate and a good friend to come home to. You were both blessed.

Mikey has "fluffball of love" written all over him. I'm sorry he departed too soon, but glad he had twelve good years to share his brand of cool.

My best friend ever (as a grown up) was my cat Poinciana. It about killed me when she died. I'm crying now thinking about her.

Hello Mikey :).

Hello lurker Lisa Ricard Claro, welcome. You should come out and comment more often. I used to be a lurker, too, being too nervous to comment.

Joseph, please don't cry! I don't want you to be upset! Please feel better soon!

Mikey looks like he was always comfortable and warm. Makes me think that I should grow his fur. It's -12°C (10°F) here right now at 12:45 PM MT. How can that be when it's April tomorrow...?

Thank you for sharing your photo...and I'm so sorry for your loss. Our pets are so much more than 'pets.' They really are a part of our family.

I think that it is amazing that some people can get their cats to pose. Mine are predatory little monsters and can stay in one spot for hours, until I pick up a camera. Then they fade with a Cheshire smile.

I am sorry for your loss. A while ago I had two cats that made it past 18 years. Their passing cost a lot. Since them we have not had as good of luck. We had one, only three years of age, that we thought had a bad tooth.

It was mouth cancer. That one bruised too.

Well this just made me cry. I'm coming to the blog a little late this weekend thanks to the holiday. Funny thing is, last night I had a dream that Mikey came to visit me and say hello. When I logged into Facebook this morning, there he was in my memories. Four years ago today he passed away.

And now I see his beautiful face on your wonderful blog. He truly is saying he's still here with me. Thank you for this gift, Janet. And thank you everyone for the beautiful comments! <3

Sweet Mikey! I have two black and white fluffballs myself, and they are the light of my life. So sorry for your loss.
