Can't believe I've made it this far.

Happy Birthday, 2N's!!!

I'll likely spend some time worrying over my next project. Ya know the drill, who are these characters and what do they want to do.

I'm also going to spend some time reading outside - only 71 and a beautiful sunny day ahead!

Last, my mom and brother are dropping in for a quick visit later this afternoon.

Oh, and opening the windows up - I love this time of year when we can do that!

Today I'll be kinda stuck at home because the 2017 Wineglass Marathon runs right by our home. They were placing the pylons down the center of the road shortly before dawn, and the race began a few minutes ago in Bath, NY. The finish line is on historic Market Street in Corning (NY). My daughter, an ER nurse in the local hospital, said she's very glad she's not working today. The ER will be swamped with runners, some with leg/feet problems but mostly with cardiac issues, and the cardiologist will tell them the human body was not made for such punishing treatment.

Janet, that sounds fabulous - enjoy!

Carolynn - happy birthday! Hope it's as wonderful as you are.

I intended to catch up on my (always too long) to-do list today. My Japanese Chin appears to have pulled a muscle somehow (vet trip tomorrow if she doesn't improve). She won't let me out of her sight so I'm snuggling with her and working on next week's schedule instead.

I think I'll re-read Mary Stewart's Airs Above the Ground to see just why I enjoy this book so much and return to it again and again.

One of my favorite Christmas presents was Hubby taking me to see the Lipizzan stallions show. Loved seeing them in action. If you get a chance, go.

Happy Sunday, y'all!

Happy birthday Carolynn!

It's a football day here. Toting the daughter (8) to cheer, then home to see if the Bad News Bills can figure out ha way to win against the former NFC champ.

I don't think I'm going to be looking as smug as that cat but I will try.

It's so gorgeous today here in GA I could weep. But everything makes me weepy lately. I'm dashing around to finish chores early so I can indulge in one of my absolute favorite things to do in the world: attend a friend's book signing. Mylene Dressler's newest release THE LAST TO SEE ME. Way over by ATL, bit of a drive, but worth it.

My sister flies in from the west coast tomorrow, then Tuesday morning she and I are road tripping up to Michigan to take our brother's ashes home to Sylvan Lake where we were born and raised.

2Ns Happy Birthday! I'm wishing you a lovely day.

I'm at church all morning. My son is here for his weekend and it looks like rain. We'll probably play board games, Catan or Epidemic, and cook.

Happy Birthday, Carolynn!

I've just spent an amazing weekend in Hell's Kitchen in New York City! This trip was huge for me since it's the first time I've been away on my own (and independent at all, really) since I became very sick. So while I've had to take cabs most places because walking is still difficult, I did get to see the Cloisters thanks to a rec by some of the lovely Reiders here and I saw a fantastic show. I feel alive in this city in a way I haven't in a very long time.

So now I'm relaxing until the train ride home and scribbling notes for new scenes and stories in my notebook. My brain is going wild with creativity and inspiration. I love this city. Coming here feels like home.

Hope everyone is enjoying this first day of October!

Lovely day? Here in my part of Canada not so much. The clouds are dark and pregnant with frozen babies ready for delivery by midday. On second thought, snowflakes can make the day lovely. Will make a batch of arroz caldo.

Today is a day of rest and revisions.

Happy birthday 2NNs!

Happy Birthday Carolynn! I don't post much, but love seeing your smart comments. Park day here down south, y'all!

Carolynn! I share a birthday with you. Hope they sent some smokin' hot firemen your way to clear out that smoke!

Today looks like it might be a little rainy and I have no real plans other than to enjoy the day however it unfolds.

Yesterday, took a detour on our way home from a little trip and wandered the little town of Roslyn, WA, where they filmed Northern Exposure oh-so-long ago. It is a quaint tiny town set in the mountains, and this year was threatened by a nearby wildfire. There were signs up all throughout the town thanking the fire crews who were finally able to withdraw. It was neat to see.

Happy Birthday, 2Ns.

Today I am quite anxiously awaiting for my daughter to return from Paris. Her plane is due in around 1:30 EST. She became quite ill while there. Suddenly, New York does not feel so far away and I just want my kid home, in her own bed, recuperating.

In the meanwhile I am furiously correctly the myriad of embarrassing typos and grammatical errors my first two beta readers found in my manuscript. And I call myself a writer. Geez.

Today at dusk, a large wave sweeps Carter [age 11] off the rock jetty and into the ocean. Thrashing wildly and inhaling sea water, he struggles against successive waves that batter him against the rocks.

Welcome to the mid-point LOL

Happy birthday Carolynn!

Happy birthday, 2Ns and Rosanna!

Cynthia: I've seen the Lipizzaners. I was lucky enough to take a friend and her disabled charge. It's really wonderful for any and all to experience.

Melanie: I'm so sorry about your brother. (((hugs)))

EM: Writers write. Sometimes writing creates typos. It's part of writing. It doesn't detract from you or your skill. (((hugs))) And I'm sorry about your daughter. :( But she's coming home, and she'll be okay.

I'm not leaving the house today. It's been a stressful couple of weeks and a busy few days. Today, I rest.

FAFSA and swearing at CSS profiles. As if money for college hasn't already been slashed, so I'm going to go eye mortgage rates on cardboard boxes later. How much of an upcharge do you think proximity to a ventilation grate is?

Didn't know we had so many Reiders with Michigan roots! I grew up Waterford/ Troy, lived in DC 25 years, then moved back.

Happy birthday Carolynn!

I'm revising a resume today, helicoptering kids about homework, blah, blah. It is a gorgeous day, so I'll make time for end-of-year gardening and a walk. Oh, and the dog needs a bath. Badly.

Completing edits...and drafting supplemental short stories...it's windy here in NorCal today, so I have a good excuse not to go outside...

Happy Birthday, 2Ns! You share a birthday with my uncle. :)

Happy birthday to Rosanna too. I missed that part, was focused on the smokin' hot fireman. Good wishes to all for everything today!

Karen McCoy said...

Happy Birthday to Rosanna too! My uncle was born in 1939, so if you can do that math on that, I'm sure he'll out-smoke you both... ;)

2Ns and Rosanna, you're wiser but not older. Way to pull off that miracle.

I was happily reading Harlan Coben when my son interrupted with something he deemed my responsibility. After a break and explaining that the king doles out responsibility, I'm heading back to the patio to join Mr. Coben. Guess as long as I'm out there, I'll grill something. Expectations and all.

I'm a look for that cool cat from my Adirondack. We'll see who blinks first.

BJ - I never get tired of those horses!

Finally at last it appears the mountain of Hurricane Irma debris, which is almost as tall as the house, is being cleared. Apparently the guys clearing it all hate each other as there's a lot of cursing in English and Spanish. They saw me writing in my garden and switched languages. Y'all don't tell them I went to the University of Madrid.

Happy Birthday to Carolynn and Rosanna!

It's a beautiful day in central Wisconsin, too, and I've got windows open. I plowed through a stack of grading so I can spend time this afternoon on my next, next book proposal. Agent is always thinking ahead and I'm happy about that.

Thanks all for the birthday wishes, they must have sent the rain clouds away because it is turning out to be a lovely, sunny day!

EM hope your daughter is on the mend soon.

Melanie,my thoughts are with you and your family.

And to all the rest of you, good luck on your projects and family endeavors. Here's to great eavesdropping and people watching, and all around writerly shenanigans!

Melanie, that's a beautiful homage to your brother (taking him back to his roots).

Kathy Joyce--I don't have MI roots but I certainly have MI connections, lived there briefly during my studies.

Happy birthdays to the 2n girls.

A belated congrats to Colin.

A hope that the trip and the memories are all good, Melanie. Be careful and stay safe.

My day was dominated by a torn rhomboid muscle that is imitating a fiery and hopefully not everlasting gobstopper. It has done a good job of telling me when I was doing something stupid. Regretfully it is almost every move I make.

Happy Birthday, Rosanna!!!

E.M., not to worry about those typos - sometimes we get so close to the work even the obviously misspelled word is replaced correctly and automatically by our brains. Trust us - we've all been there.

Kathy Joyce I lived in Michigan for two years - attended third and fourth grade there - and guess where? Troy. I lived on Creston Road. (that's all I remember)

* Happy Birthday to 2N's and Rosanna, hip-hip hooray!

* Melanie: I hope you remember fondly the wonderful times you had with your brother. It's nice that you can do a road trip with your sister and be fulfilled knowing that his ashes are where he'd want them to be.

* Susan: Happy for you that you had such a lovely time in New York, and that your inspiration was reignited. As a writer, there's nothing like that. It fuels your creativity and your energy to make something great.

It's a beautiful day here, too, on the West Coast. Just tootling around, doing a bit of this, a bit of that. Working on tying up the never ending loose ends in my thriller. Step by step, I'm getting there.

Happy Birthday, Rosanna - it is a double Ns kinda day.

Melanie- I hope your sister and you find solace in your journey.

My kid is back in New York- happy to be hind even as sick as she is. She has Indian food, hot tea, and her own bed. She is never going to move back South. :(

Going to take a walk. It is a gorgeous autumn day in Dixie and those edits aren't going anywhere. Have a good one.

Happy Birthday, Carolynn and Rosanna! Hope you both had a wonderful day doing things that bring you joy.

Colin, belated congratulations on your accomplishment (even though I already said it on FB).

We had our last (I hope!) bit of summer a few days ago when it hit 94 degrees. This weekend we're having a tease of fall weather -- dry air and cooler temps -- is it's glorious. Had a dinner/housewarming celebration last night at my daughter and son-in-law's new house, really enjoyed sitting out on their deck and feeling a cool breeze. Today my daughter came over to do laundry (their new washer/dryer is apparently on a different move-in schedule) and then took her to the airport, as she's off to FL for work this week.

This has been nice, sitting back after a long day and hearing what everyone has been up to. Thanks, Janet.

Happy birthday, Carolynn and Rosanna! Later this week we're traveling to visit my husband's grandmother, who will be 100 on the 4th.

Today after church a few ladies asked me to join them for coffee. None of us actually ended up drinking coffee, but we enjoyed chatting. A little windy here, but nice enough for a walk later. In the meantime, that next scene isn't going to write itself.

Happy birthday, 2Ns',

Happy Birthday Carolynn and Rosanna! You guys share a birthday with my hubby's aunt, who turned 80 today.

Oh, E.M., your poor daughter. Hope she's feeling better.

Melanie, prayers for you and your family.

Leilani, yep, it's still today here...for about another 20 minutes.

Was nice weather in my neck of the woods, but I spent the day cleaning the house and researching my next book when I wasn't doing loads of laundry.

Janet, your day sounded lovely!

I went to Robercon in Binghamton with a fellow writer friend (Tori Curtis, who published Eelgrass last year). It's actually a 2 day event but we didn't find out about it until Saturday. It was a nice little deal, at a science center, with several writers I knew about (Deborah Blake, Faith Hunter), some I hadn't, some good panel discussions (writing a series), a digital planetarium. I got a book signed by Rod Serling's daughter (As I knew Him, if you're interested in Rod Serling, the Twilight Zone, etc.) Our plan is to actually plan for it next year and hit both weekend days.

Follow up visit after getting mauled by a cat this weekend, tetanus shot, and in to work. But it was still a good weekend, and it's still a good day. Not that I wouldn't mind being on a beach with a book. And a computer, because I need to respond to my WIP edits.
