What do you mean no post today?
I forgot to prep one for today.
By way of excuse, I'm cat sitting (not for the Duchess of Yowl) and was too busy petting His Whiskerness to write a post.

Orange cats - especially the male ones (yes, there are female ones - genetics are never perfect) - are so calm and friendly. His Whiskerness seems made for petting. Enjoy!

I love big orange cats. I want a cat. Husband doesn't like cats. It's an ongoing battle which I will never win. :( To make up for it, Loaner Cat has come to visit for a few weeks because her two male apartment mates have decided she is the new punching bag. Since she's too fat to jump on anything and needs something between the floor and the bed to get up there, husband is okay with her staying. Eventually however, she goes back home and then I'm catless yet again :(

ReplyDeleteBJ, our orange guy, Rhubarb, is friendly, but not calm. He's got a nervous stomach and tends to flinch at loud noises and sudden movements. Probably has something to do with being at the bottom of the totem pole.
Though it should be noted that it does get him extra treats and cuddles. Hmmm. Never let it be said that Rhubarb isn't out for the main chance.

ReplyDeleteThere is nothing like a marmalade cat. Our part-time cat at the old house was a big old ginger cat and we miss him, even with the kittens we've adopted since moving. There's something to be said for an older, staid cat….
ReplyDeleteI have never had much luck with orange cats. The ones that I have met tended to be too territorial to deal with other cats. Around my house there are always other cats.

ReplyDeleteHaven't had a cat since our last old girl passed on about seven years ago. Sadly my cat allergy has worsened (probably from a lifetime of denial - I refused to give in to the allergy and owned cats anyway). I now have to be satisfied with visiting friends with cats (although my body regrets it afterwards).
ReplyDeleteI had an orange cat when I was a kid called Ginger Meggs (although she was a she - if you are familiar with the comic strip Ginger Meggs was a he). She was a very cuddly girl.
His Whiskerness appears very content.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was a kid, one of my chores was to take our family dog, Watch, out in the mornings. We lived in a northern area where it was frequently freezing and dark before school. I remember wishing so fervently that I could be in Watch's shoes --running out to pee, then zooming back in to my warm bed. No stress, no homework, no big kids to ignore on a school bus. What a life!
I eventually came to terms with my being a human, but some days...!

Maximus...! And an orange kitty. Two of my favorite things on the planet. I really, really love orange kitties. Last winter, I found two itty-bitty starving kittens at the abandoned house on our property. A tabby and a ginger. Gorgeous, both. I was overjoyed! They've fit in perfectly with our family, including the dogs and other cats (all of them inside, all of them all over the furniture).
