Sox Knocker Saturday: DIVERGENT

I wanted to love this movie cause I love the author and her agent, and her book to film agent.
My heart was in my throat when I sat down in the theatre cause a LOT of movies don't translate well to the big screen.

Well, let's just say my sox were the popcorn box when the movie was done!

Divergent is absolutely wonderful. You don't have to have read the book to get the movie either (although why I think anyone hasn't read the book at this point, I don't know!)

And in case you think "oh Janet, you're just biased cause you adore Veronica" well, here's another opinion from someone who as far as I know hasn't ever set eyeballs on Veronica.

What knocked your sox off this week?

Surviving my first-ever week on my own, sans husband, with my daughter and our small menagerie of pets knocked my sox off. I'm glad we made it!!

Also, the final three or four episodes of House of Cards because OMG IT WAS INSANE!!!

Nope, my eyeballs have never set on Ms. Roth, although I did score a level up and +200 cool points at the theater when I informed a couple of high school girls that I had met her agent at a writers' conference.

The simple pleasures . . .

"It doesn't hurt you at all because you don't want an agent who clearly doesn't understand that novelists should be known for their work, not the fact they want to be writers."
from your Wednesday post. That was great! Thank you.

My sox were knocked by this:
malihini-view.blogspot.com by my sweet friend Becca. It's one of those inherited relationships: my mum is friends with her grandma; I adore her parents (and the woman her dad married after Becca's mother passed) and Becca's little girls--let's just say, if arranged marriages were not considered barbaric, my sons' lives would be aaaall planned out. Becca is a teacher who added Hawaiian to Dutch and Japanese to certify. I can never tell if it's her brain or her heart that dazzles me most.

My sox were blown into the universe and have yet to be found... because of this:

(Wordpress login limits me from embedding - or maybe I'm technologically challenged on this site, but if you care to watch...it's worth it.

I am so happy to hear this!

I enjoyed all the books in the Divergent series. They're the sort of books that when you finish them you're just dying to find someone else who has so you can talk about them.

Fun fact: I live in the middle of nowhere and the nearest theatre is a 2 hour drive from my house. I will eagerly await the DVD.

Okay, now I think I'm going to give this book a try. I'd heard that it was a little too Hunger Games-esque so I was initially turned off. You've changed my mind however!

My sox were knocked off discovering Brenda Ueland who's absolutely lovely and has really given me the courage to pursue my literary dreams.

In the scene where Four is about to show Tris his tattoos, the guy next to me shouted, "Take it off!" and the whole theater laughed.
Why is this movie so suspenseful? I've already read the book and of course she's not going to die twenty minutes into the movie, but I sill got worried when she jumped from the train.

My sox were knocked off by a very thorough and thoughtful review of my book. http/:wp.me/p4fAUS-VM

I have to confess, I haven't read Divergent yet or seen the movie. But I won't see the film until I've read the book, so I should get cracking.

My sox were knocked off by watching "The Book Thief" on DVD - absolutely wonderful, although tissues were definitely required.

Divergent knocked my socks off too! Just fabulous. In fact, there were a few things I liked more in the movie than the book (although I loved the book). For instance, the climactic fight scene with Four was...well, even more climactic. Awesomesauce.

I saw the movie as well. I love the young actress....Woodley...what a character she is in real life.

What knocked my socks off this week? Finishing my second novel. Now waiting for test readers to give me feedback before final re-write. Whew!
