On behalf of all sharks everywhere

Congratulations

the first person to successfully swim with us from Havana to Florida.

You reminded us:

Never give up!
You're never too old!
It looks like a solitary sport but it takes a team!

All things we think well worth remembering.

I was really rooting for her! It seemed like all her stars aligned...calm seas, good weather, and the wild creatures cooperated.

She's an inspiration in perseverance and fortitude.

(Welcome back from vacation too!)

I shared this story with my kids and they mostly wanted to hear about the stinging jellyfish and lack of shark cage, but I found the accomplishment of swimming that far, at age 64, after four previous tries, SO incredibly inspiring. Thanks for sharing Diana's words of wisdom. Yes, they apply to writing, too!

Solitary, but a team. Sounds like writing & publishing.

Love this. Love the picture. Love your lessons. And mostly love her. Thanks for posting this.

I know so amazing and inspiring. Story is something we can all relate to and reminds us that we should ever give up. Hang in there fellow writers. I too had a dream - a publishing one. The road was difficult, but I did publish my first novel, Mason Davis and the Rise of the Storm Makers, this summer. I guess all things are possible if you just keep at it.

I was imagining the sharks escorting her this time out of respect for her persistence.

Yes, there's a lesson here for all of us.

She has always been a hero of mine, even when she didn't make it the other times. Her epic swimming feats since the 1970s have always been an inspiration for me.

And she has the coolest name ever for a swimmer. She truly is a sea nymph.

I love her because she's not only a remarkable female athlete, who happens to be MY age, but an amazing human being who has set an example for every one of us who possess the inclination to drive toward, quest, seek, swim, run, walk and crawl to our beloved destination of dreams.

Ah Janet, welcome back and thanks for advising your shark buddies to back off; they are no match for Diana anyway.
