Check out this program for unpubbed writers

I'm a huge fan of the William F. Deeck Malice Domestic Unpublished manuscript program:

Here's why:

and of course, this:

But really, this:

the whole story of why I love this contest is here.

BUT, the really important thing is this:

The William F. Deeck-Malice Domestic Grants Program is announcing the 2012 call for submissions from Unpublished Writers. Submissions will be accepted between September 15th through November 15th, 2012 only.

The William F. Deeck-Malice Domestic Grants Program for Unpublished Writers is designed to foster quality Malice Domestic literature and to help the next generation of Malice Domestic authors get their first works published.

Thanks for the heads up! Any recommendations for great writing conferences to attend with the grant money? For purposes of filling out the app, of course. Not getting ahead of myself or anything.

Malice itself of course.
Backspace for sure.
CrimeBake if you're in the northeast.
Rocky Mountain Gold if you're in the west.

This year, The Malice Domestic Convention will be hosting Laura Lippman, Aaron Elkins, Peter Robinson, Laurie R.King and Carolyn Hart--those are a fraction of the notable mystery writers who will be on hand. And the Malice Fans are the best--supportive, informed and informative. The grant, and the fabulous Janet, made it possible for me to return to the convention as a published writer--I WISH I had known about the convention years ago--it would have been a great help in so many ways. If you possibly can, go.

I'd add Killer Nashville to the conference list as well (this year my friends and I closed down the bar with Peter Straub and I had a delightful chat with Jeffery Deaver in that same bar).

My small short story backlist DQs me out of this one, but I am passing this one on to my friends.
