I love the picture of the judges "confurring."

However, I think Ms. Shark is having way too much fun torturing the contestants in the Liz Norris Pay It Forward contest. She's posted three times today, and none of them list the finalists.

Across the U.S., aspiring authors are in desperate need of a spatula to pry them off their ceilings.

Oh did I forget to mention there are finalists? Oops.

So. Mean.

I squeal every time there's been an update only to be disappointed by the lack of announcement. But it's totally ok...I've discovered that I can breathe into two paper bags at once!

My husband was surprised I actually got out of the house with him today to have a picnic at a ranch. After feeding ourselves, a horse, a few donkeys, and throwing a carrot at a buffalo, I come home eager to get on my computer. What do I see instead of a list? More animals.

That last picture made me laugh so hard I'm sure that I woke a few of the judges up!

Adorable photos -- and such a great idea!

Such a creative job to torture 404 people. Kudos to you Ms. Shark. You have successfully heightened all of anxiety levels. You're going to need a lot of spatulas.

I die a little each time there's a post NOT mentioning finalists.

I've tried so many times to comment on these updates. Blogger hates me. Says I'm not typing the "not a robot" code correctly. Maybe I am a robot.
Can't wait to see the finalists! Good luck all.

It worked! Hurrah. While we wait, what genre and audience is your novel? Mine is crossover mythological fantasy.

HK said...

Well, what can we expect? Sharks go crazy for the scent of blood in the water. :)

Amanda said...

bahah HK you are so right! Katie mine is a crossover paranormal romance.

FYI, because I am a robot, Blogger refuses to allow me to post from my Wordpress account. This is actually Kate Brauning from The Bookshelf. http://katebrauning.com/

Mine's women's fiction. No crossover.

Mine's contemporary/urban fantasy (still undecided which is correct, but I'll go with both).

And every time I see the grinning shark come up on my Twitter feed, I suffer palpitations. I tried writing to keep my mind off it, but it's not working. And I keep obsessing about my revised query. I've edited it about 50 times today, and I keep compulsively reading it over and tweaking it again. And thanks for all the input from the other folks here!

Mine is speculative fiction (time travel).
I swear my heart does a backflip every time the blog updates! And according to Blogger I am, sadly, a robot :)

Lisa Gomley said...

Haha...I am so glad I am not the only one obsessing. It is like we are all on our own surfboard, watching as the shark slowly circles, the anticipation growing. The part that really sucks for me is I just ran out of wine!

Mine is suspense. So do we have any idea how many finalists there are going to be?

Ok...need to run to the liquor store now. I think I need to switch to margaritas! Good luck to everyone!

I'm about to go on a date with my dear hubster, so I won't know who made it tonight (unless I sneak quick peaks at my phone while he's not looking).

Dying here.

Spatula to pry me off the ceiling won't be sufficient.

I'm at the "eating Ben & Jerry’s on the roof with a shotgun" stage.

A fire truck with one of those bucket things might be in order.

@Laura Hughes/Mittens - I already liked you for using y'all, but to read that you write in my favorite genre??? Fabulous!

Mine's urban fantasy, too :)

Too funny! Needed a laugh just about now. Thanks for the pick me up. A judge's life is never easy, I know...

I'm with the grumpy kitten. All 404 of us are running out of ways to distract ourselves!

Personally, I've had two different kinds of girl scout cookies, some ice cream, a bowl of cereal, and some jelly beans. I'm running out of food! And I feel a little sick.

I can't write anymore tonight, my query has blurred into a continuous glob of goo, and there's nothing good on tv. I'm resorting to violent action movies and Irish whiskey now.

We're running out of April 14th! Come on, Ms. Shark! Have pity!

Kate Brauning said...

I want to know, I don't want to know. I want to distract myself, but I can't look away. *refresh, refresh*

You're waiting until 11:59, aren't you?

Brandon said...

I'm going to have a heart attack right before you tell us, I know it.

Kate Brauning said...

I've coping by surfing Pinterest. Highly recommended.

My story is about crossover dressing!

You know...meatless Thanksgiving dinner with corn meal stuffing.

What were you thinking?

I waited till 11pm only to wait till after church tomorrow.

Good for you, Janet! Not just any agent has the b***s to draw back the curtain on what, let's face it, can be such a conflict-ridden process as doin' the judgin'.

Plus, you've got some excellent YouTube material now.
