There's no such thing as the query police

However, we have other ways of dealing with font and format miscreants.

Is that what it means to be "down pending revisions?"

Thanks for posting the most terrifying video I've ever seen! This is the reason I didn't become a marine biologist. (Only half-joking, by the way. I really did plan to be a marine biologist most of my life.) Agreed that this would be a good way to deal with those miscreants (as well as anyone who does one of our pet peeves).

And that's why you will never catch me mucking about in the deep waters. Well, unless I had one of those underwater welding torches I could fry its face with...

I wanted to share my own frustration where fonts and formatting is concerned; it might be something the readers of your blog who are sending out their own queries would like to know.

Having just sent out a first wave of queries (after a great deal of query preparation and agent research) I was horrified to discover that googlemail (my email service) altered the appearance of text in my queries, changing the fonts and spacing. I made the discovery after looking at my "Sent Mail" and then emailing the queries again to myself to confirm how they appeared on the receiving end.

To be safe, I now send the query (and pages, if asked for) to myself and do any tweeking that's needed before sending them to an agent so I can be sure the query will appear as intended. It's a pain but a necessary one. I don't want to be rejected solely on the basis of a font; I'd rather have a shark in my cage. ;)

Yikes! Guess I'd better look for my lost copy of "The Elements of Style"

The title of that video was incomplete. It should have read, "Shark Cage Failure Followed by Bladder Control Failure."

If I'd been in that cage, there' be a lot more in the water than just bubbles . . .

As a sidenote, just a reminder to never buy shark cages from the low bidder.
