Madison Ross ROCKS!

You'll think so too.
Listen here.

Normally I require cash deposits to deal with people of a tender age but Miss Madison Ross is exactly the kind of kid I like.

Now, I need to go round up some kid's book authors to be on her podcast. If you'd like to volunteer, drop me an email (or have your agent get in touch.)

Holy freaking Moses, Batman! That's it. I'm turning my adult badge in and am leaving now to jump off the Ben Franklin Bridge into the frigid Delaware River. I don't deserve to be breathing the same air as someone as young and talented and ambitious as Madison. Sorry, Madison, but you'll have my demise on your conscience. That's what you get for being so freaking awesome at such a ridiculously young age.

Goodbye, sweet world.

Smart and talented. You'd almost think she was from Rochester, NY. Oh, wait, she is! Just like one of your clients.

Holy crap! I love kids like that. Gives me hope for the future.

That does sound like a good venue, but I do have to consider the following:

a) You hate me with the passion of a thousand dying supernova suns. (No hyperbole here) Thus it's a non-starter.

b) I went through the 'paper mill' print process. (we'll leave it at that sans the circular debate. I'm convinced that conversation is a missing level out of Dante's "Inferno." )

c) According to a ultra religious book review blog my work is "Misogynistic and misanthropic." Among other 'choice' phrases. Meaning this is not a politically correct book apparently. (Whistles the cliche nonchalant cartoon whistle while glancing to the side...)

(Something tells me my review was coming with a side of hemlock... but I digress. )

However this is a really cool idea and definite kudos for stretching out to genres other than mystery and thrillers.

I tip my hat.

Okay, forget trying to protect kids from sex and violence. Can we get together to try to protect them from learning about QUERIES before they are ready?

So traumatic...

Miss Madison makes me smile. She's home schooled? Why am I not surprised. It is comforting to know home schoolers will one day rule the world.

Thanks, Janet, for allowing Madison to sing.

I LOVE that she's already interviewing authors! Man, her college application is going to be strong.. Someone needs to give her parents a medal :).

She DOES rock!

Any one who has been suckered in by Janet's more snarky side need to see this blog. Today is unofficially Offical Recognize your agent day and this author recognizes Janet in a huge way!

Congrats Janet!

I’m the writing partner to that occasionally obnoxious, always talented and insightful Pixie who occasionally shows up on Miss Reid’s blog. In the interests of full disclosure, I’m also her uncle.

I teach creative writing to middle and high school students associated with a home-school support program sponsored by our school district. I’m impressed. I’d love to have Madison in my class.

Keep developing your talent, Miss Ross.

The pixie, who’s looking over my shoulder as I write this, says she’s impressed too.

Fantastic Madison! Believe me, no one would have ever, ever have wanted to hear me sing it. (My two year old son used to put his hand on my mouth and yell, "Don't Sing" as I crooned lullabies.) Maybe we should become a songwriter/singer duo. What do you think?

What a talented young lady. There is something amazing about home-schooled kids. We have a lot here in East Texas and they are some of the most talented kids I have met. Many of them are in my drama group, and many others sing, play piano, make movies, dance, and write great poems and stories. It is a thrill to work with them and cheer them on in their endeavors.

And I did query Madison about being interviewed. Felt weird asking a ten-year-old. Smile.

That is awesome! I fumbled my last podcast miserably, but I think I am game to give it a go again. I have a kid's book coming out next fall and I can't think of any place I'd rather be interviewed. I am going to alert my publisher.I think they would be all too happy to set her up with a heap of great authors to interview. Thanks for sharing the link!
