This explains a LOT

Thank you Kyler!

This cat is clearly saying, "Time to go paperless in this office."

dylan said...

Does this explain why you're not allowed to touch the office Fax machine?

Stephanie Faris said...

So instead of "The dog ate my homework," in the world of publishing it's, "Sorry I won't make deadline...the cat stole my manuscript off the printer."

oh my god, i cried laughing

It is so cute when the cat is on its hind legs like a prairie dog!

OMG, I haven't laughed that hard in a while. I've got six cats, and one of them is mesmerized by the copier. Every time he hears it, he comes running to check it out. He's not quite as violent, but definitely intrigued. Thanks for the laughs.

Hilarious! Certainly makes paperwork more fun.

Yeah, if the cat had actually run off with the printed pages it would have explained even more.

Surely this was a tom cat just trying to find the 'paws' button...

Laurel said...

That cat looks a lot like I do when I examine the printer and wait for something to happen. Down to smacking at it.

Anita said...

I showed this to my cat and he said, "That cat is sooo stupid."

Anna Claire said...

I like Stephanie's excuse. If there was any suspicion a writer was one of those weird cat ladies, that would cinch it right there.

Definitely NOT someone to ask for a WIP critique.

I'm with Moonrat! I totally sobbed with laughter! *sigh* this is why I love my own cat. He makes me smile for no other reason than he exists...

That cat went all "Office Space" on the printer. He just needed a little old school rap playing in the background, a grassy area, and a baseball bat. Then he could've finished that thing off.

So that's what happened to my printer. Kitty and I are going to have some words when I get home.

Glad you liked it, Moonie. I'm the one who sent it to Janet. And no credit...well!

Deb Salisbury said...

Oh! Thank you! I haven't laughed so hard in ages. The expression on her face is delicious.

OMG, so funny. Print damn you, print. Swap, swap, swap. F#*ing print. Ooops. Off to clean paws in innocence.

This never ceases to be funny. Almost laughed out loud while the boss is on a conference call.

PurpleClover said...

OMG, that is hilarious!

I worked at a hospital for three years and have seen doctors do the exact same thing.

I'll add this to my long list of reasons I don't have a cat... also my long list of why cat-based humor always amuses me.

Gosh, I wish I could offer such a rational explanation for the wonky behavior of my Lexmark.

Wendy said...

This makes me wish I had a cat.

Poor kitty :(

I think I know which publisher that kitty works for.

Lumpy Dog said...

That was a cat?! I thought it was an agent reacting to one of my queries.

Carradee said...

*chuckles* My family's old cat would actually SHRED paper. (And chew up shoes.)

I think she ate my homework, once.

Mystery Robin said...

That's what my kids do when I print. Oh the fun and hilarity. ;)

Cynthia Reese said...

ROFL ... that cat looks like it's thinking some CHOICE words!

Pepper Smith said...

LOL! To paraphrase my mother, cats don't think about the consequences of what they're doing, do they?

Becky Mushko said...

One of my cats broke my printer, too. Another throws pencils off my desk. What is it with these cats? Are they anti-writer?

Jeannie said...

Hey! That looks like my Gizzmo!

"I worked at a hospital for three years and have seen doctors do the exact same thing."

Did they fall off the chair, too?

Back in ye old darke ages of electric typewriters, my sister's new kitten did that to my typewriter as I was trying to finish a paper the night before it was due. (Yes, I was one of *those* students.) Kept adding extra letters to my page. The only 'delete' my typewriter knew was 'tear the page out and start over'. It wasn't the kitty saying the choice words then...

This video makes up for all that wasted time and paper.

have you seen the video some did where they took this posting and put the cat's thoughts in text bubbles? It's so funny!

It's a whole new marketing concept for these doom-laden recession times.

Instead of offering free injet cartridges with new printers, HP should be considering moody Siamese kittens...

PC load letter? PC LOAD LETTER!! What the hell does that mean?

Just what I needed this afternoon!

LOL. I have this old-fashion clock in a see-through tupperware storage box. My cat will sit there until he's dizzy, watching the second hand go around . . . and around.

LMAO! Awesome!

Malanie said...

So, that is what I've been doing wrong!

Indigo said...

Gives copy editing a whole new meaning. The most I have to worry about is my dog Pickles tail whapping the keys as I'm trying to type. She is usually crashed out on the couch beside me. Indigo

My cat is the same way with the printer. Every time she hears it start up she comes running and tries to attack the paper coming out of it :P I have to close the office door now when I want to print something and even then I can hear her scratching frantically at the carpet to get in.

Coral Press said...

This is why we prefer our aloof dog mascot at Coral Press. :) Having a curious cat would definitely increase the daily lol factor though.

first version was cute, the one with the thought bubbles though i couldn't help but chuckle at.

love the site by the way very informative nice of you to take the time to help others so much. How ever do you manage to have time for so much?

Thanks for sharing--I sent it to everyone I know and posted it on FB. My four cats didn't find the humor in it, but then again, they were all feigning sleep when I played it. (Three times).

Liz Kreger said...

OMG. That was too funny. I'm in tears. It really does explain a lot.
