"the mean streets of Classical Athens!"

If you're not reading Gary Corby's blog, you're really missing out.

I was prowling around over there tonight, and noticed he'd changed his "subtitle." Here's the new one--it's the description of his new mystery series (coming next year from Minotaur):

Nicolaos, the ambitious son of a minor sculptor, walks the mean streets of Classical Athens as an agent for the promising young politician Pericles. Murder and mayhem don't bother Nico; what's really on his mind is how to get closer (much closer) to Diotima, the intelligent and annoyingly virgin priestess of Artemis, and how to shake off his irritating 12 year old brother Socrates.

Now, I have to tell you, I've READ that book already. After reading that description though I just want dive in all over again. Thank goodness he just sent me book two!

I can't wait for his book to come out! Gary's blog is great, and he's so kind as to follow my blog and leave comments! I'll enjoy it until he becomes uber-famous. One day I'll say wistfully, "yes, he commented on my bog from time to time" and nobody will believe me.

Thank you so much everyone! The support is very appreciated, believe me.

You made me laugh Yamile with the thing about becoming famous. I'm not sure that happens to historical mystery authors. I have a feeling we might be the uber-nerds of the writing world. If people have fun with the books and learn something as they go I'll be happy.

Bizarre as this may sound, Gapy, I don't know what the final title will be. The publisher controls cover design and title. We're actually tossing ideas around at the moment. My working title was The Ephialtes Affair, which I can promise you will not be it. When I have a title, my loyal blog readers will be the first to hear about it. Same goes for cover.

You may not realize it, but all you lovely people reading my blog and talking to me are essential for how the books come out. If I didn't have you, it would feel like I was writing for a vacuum. So thanks for being there.

Do let us know when there is an official title so I can add it to my TBR list, eh?
