I'm thinking of requiring every person who writes to me with a query also include a notarized statement that they've read Robert Gregory Browne's website about writing.
Seriously.
I particularly like this one about what to include in a query; and by default what NOT to include.

Off to look at the link now. Thanks for the tip!
Gosh that site is a treasure trove of good advice and interesting articles. Have bookmarked it to explore at my leisure!!
Oh, anyone who agrees that many readers like to do a little work is okay by me!
Thanks for the links!
Thanks so much for this link - I just read through several of his posts and they're very informative. I'm definitely adding this to my bookmarks. :) Kristi
WOW! I clicked on the link and have been absolutely devouring this guy's stuff. He's amazing. Thanks, Janet.
I found his site awhile ago when I was having issues with one of my characters. He's already bookmarked :)
I wrote the address to the links down so I can look at them while I'm pretending to look busy at work. I'm reading it so far--and needless to say--great stuff!
I love the way he dismisses character sheets. I never find those right for my characters.
What's their favourite movie?
Er, movies haven't been invented yet.
Et seq!
