This is good writing advice

Of course I wish I'd said it, but I didn't.
My most slithery of colleagues, Barbara Poelle, wrote it.

Character traits.

Agreed, that is very good advice. I love multi-dimensional characters. Now, what happened to Miss Janet being one of the dead guys?

Aw. That was cute. And a good idea.

Interrupting my weekly tour of the house to gather up stray hair bands to say, "So glad to know there's another one out there."

Too damn funny. And so very true - character traits: huh, what a concept! I'm going to make a list for my mc and supporting cast in my current WIP (suburban murder mystery sprinkled, no make that sauteed in humor). I bet there's some tasty traits they've been hiding from me (the little devils)!

I told her, I'd like to do a little Traiting Spaces with her.

Poelle's post was hilarious and so true. Thanks for that.
I feel re-energized as I wonder about my characters' traits.

I crossed from laughing hysterically into that place where the body doesn't know whether or not you're crying.

I really needed that. :)

Loved the characters Poelle creates with herself and her husband. And she's cheeky back, not something I typically have the guts to do. I just get mad back.

I use hair bands for my hair but also to bind my wool scarves to keep them round my neck or head. When I need to put one somewhere momentarily, I put it around my wrist or double it around a finger.

Good advice. I've taken a sabbatical from fiction writing to work on character driven poetry and Ms. Poelle's suggestion works just as well there. Less space to play around in so it's good to have a firm grip on what you're trying to get across.
