What is this thing, vacation, of which you speak?

I've noticed a lot of agents saying they won't be reading queries for the next two weeks, and to wait to query until January.

Not I.

Query now.
In fact, your chances of a prompt reply are greater now than they will be come January.
Why?
Cause I'm not on the phone selling to editors for the next two weeks. I'm probably not closing any deals (although Moonrat, feel free to call on Wednesday with an offer, I'll be here!)

Query me first, and get rejection out of the way!
Query me first, and start the new year with a request for a full!
Query me now, and get an answer pretty quickly.

Since my goal is to clear my inbox by the end of the year (300+ emails pending now) I'll be reading feverishly.

Here's your chance!

Too bad you don't represent what I write. :-\

Have fun getting caught up!

Why do I have a bad feeling that inbox is about to swell to 1,000 queries, a quarter of which are children's fables written in metered rhyme?

I'm wishing you the merriest of holidays and lots and lots of booze.

Good luck with the reading. I hope you find a gem.

Should I? Shouldn't I? Should I? Shouldn't...I'll see how brave I'm feeling tomorrow!

Enjoy the season anyway (even if you're working!) :)

*sigh*

If only it was finished. I don't even care if you don't represent it. I'd query just to get a rejection. And I mean that in the most non-stalkerish way possible, I just really love the blog.

bless your enthusiasm.

I just finished getting through 100+ emails from students with papers for me to grade.

It nearly killed me. Or, rather, it nearly made me kill *myself.*

Don't know how you do it.

Children's fables in metered rhyme? How about a heartwarming holiday story, written in free verse, that teaches children how to better human beings and addresses the angst of potty training all at the same time?

"Cause I could do that.

I think that's the codeine talking. I- and my cough drops and tissues- had better go to bed.

Oh how I long to hear those words from an agent like you who works in my genre!

Ah well, have a great 'holiday' - whatever you plan to do with the five minutes of spare time you'll have.

you are perseverant; let it never be said otherwise. (although perhaps let it be spelled otherwise; i'm not really sure about that one.)

Have I mentioned how much I love the interwebs?

Some agents have blogged that they are not reading queries over the holidays. You blogged that you are. Now we KNOW. One click and we know.

I love living in the modern age.

The queries were mailed to the agent with care,
In hopes that she'd find them exciting and rare.
Would they get a request, or a SASE filled with coal?
Would they be that much closer to their shining goal?
Whatever the word, we continue to write,
Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!

*snickers at Marian*

Tempting, very tempting.

I would send you the query and pages, but I'm still revising.

I wish I was ready, but I'm still in edit mode. You can expect something in a couple more months. :)

Oh, I so should've figured that you and Moonrat were tight!

By the way, thanks for nothing -- it's Christmas morning and instead of watching my kids playing with their new toys or curling up with my new novel-present, I'm reading #$%^ing heart warming stories on your blog!
