Hobbesian dilemma takes on a whole new meaning

This just cracks me up.
And like most things that are really funny: it's very very true!

Oh my goodness. I'm doomed. I always assumed that the rules made absolutely no sense to me because I was a newbie but eventually I'd catch on. Little did I know that we're all playing Calvinball and the rules can change at any time.

Nothing to do but keep writing and keep playing. After all, Calvin only played that game because it was fun.

Margaret,

Exactly. Must. Keep. Playing.

Janet, thanks. I laughed.

I swear it's like walking on ice floes -- everything shifts and you'd better hope there's a boat.

Oh I love it. I have missed Calvin & Hobbes (the greatest stuffed tiger, like, EVAR).

[sarcasm]So glad to know something that brought me such joy as a child/adolescent will bring me such frustration and misery as an adult[/sarcasm]

Oh thank you. This is my new favorite analogy for the publishing business.
