Bouchercon

Yes they have to pry me out of NYC with a crowbar, but the chance to see CharmCity is a crowbar. Besides, I want to see where The Wire was filmed (sad but true, I'm a gawky tourist about The Wire.)

Let me know if you're going and we'll stake out enough spots in the bar!

I was just in B'more in March, visiting family.

It's a long way to go from Ireland, but hey if my lotto tickets come through, I'm there again! (and I'll be buying!)

Hope you have a wonderful time and a good trip.

I'll be there. But you knew that already. I never managed to get into The Wire, but I do love the American Visionary Art Museum. And Baltimore does have some mighty fine neighborhood bars. And oh, the crab! See you there.

I live just outside Baltimore (about twenty minutes from downtown), and I'm planning on going with a writer friend of mine. It's awesome that you'll be there. It will be my first Bouchercon, and I'm really looking forward to it. Do you really want some recommendations of places to see / things to do? The aquarium is amazing, and the Inner Harbor is beautiful no matter where you go. If you like night life, there's a place near the harbor called Power Plant Live, which has a pretty interesting collection of bars and clubs and live music. There's also Little Italy, if you want some good food. The first weekend of October should be beautiful, and you're a New Yorker, so I imagine you're used to walking. Want more recommendations? Will you have much free time?

Brigid, Art museums! And how easy is it to get around if you don't drive? I also need to find the nearest Catholic church to the Radisson.

Make sure you introduce yourself to me if you spot me! I"ll be the one clutch a whiskey bottle and wearing the snake.

You'll know where to find me. And when you do, please tell me so I'll know too.

If only I could go. I'm hoping for IN B'con in '09.

Course, I'm strictly a teetotaler - which leaves more booze fortherest of everybody. lol

I'll definitely be at B'Con. Hope to see you there. I see you're also going to be at CrimeBake this year. (Don't worry, I'm not a stalker >;) ) I was one of the people in your group at the agent pitch session seminar at last year's Crimebake.

I just remembered that you mentioned Catholic Churches, and I never listed one. The Baltimore Basilica is right around the corner from your hotel, I believe. I was confirmed there, and it's beautiful. I think it's the first cathedral in the US, so it has some tourist value, too.

Brigid, you totally rock. Thank you for telling me about the Baltimore Basilica. Get this..they do a Latin mass!! Very very cool!

I hope I'm not posting too much, but I just found out that the Baltimore Running Festival is going on Saturday, October 11th. That means there will be a marathon at the Inner Harbor all morning (and into the afternoon for the slow people). There will be numerous road closures and parking problems. This won't be a big deal for people staying at the hotel, but if you have clients / friends / associates who are coming in locally or are staying at a different location, the Light Rail (above ground transit train) might be a better choice.

Brigid, you're not posting too much at all. It's very helpful info. I've reposted your comment on the Bouchercon message board as well.

thank you!!
