What you are getting for Christmas this year

I'm browsing the new MacAdam/Cage catalog to see what I'll soon be reading (cause I'm not sure they've ever published a bad book; they've certainly never published anything I haven't liked a lot) when what to my wondering eye should appear but:

Ella Minnow Pea-Illustrated!!!

Holy Guacamole! I'm in. I'm SO in. I loved Ella Minnow Pea when it was first published. I still enthuse about it regularly at literary watering holes (most recently the CAA cocktail party at BEA).

I'm passionate about this book!

And now..pictures!

Sight unseen, I'm buying this for everyone on my gift list.

If you haven't discovered Ella Minnow Pea yet, just stop reading right now and go get a copy.

I really like the Cage's stuff too, particularly Will Christopher Baer (Kiss Me Judas, Penny Dreadful) and Craig Clevenger (The Contortionist's Handbook, Dermaphoria). Two of my favorite authors, they write really great noir.

Just bought it. If I don't like it, I'll send you a bill, or I'll follow you around like a lost puppy at the next writer's conference.

Has an Animal Farm feel from the blurb. Great title, too. Okay, will read this one.

Can I be on your gift list? I seriously loved this book, and I'll have to go find me a copy when it comes out.

I've never even heard of it before. Man. Where has it been hiding?

I've heard of opening gifts on Christmas Eve, but this is crazy. You'll be getting something equally as wonderful from ... well, not me, but someone, I'm sure.

Ha. Just kidding. I'm giving you Brady Westwater for Christmas. Ho ho ho.

Isn't there a law against talking about Christmas in June?

There should be.

Congrats on the find!

I loved that book, too. Glad to see it's getting life beyond the usual Hardback/Trade Paperback/mulch cycle.
