Cover Art can be fun!

Adam Eisenberg's forthcoming book A Different Shade of Blue illuminates the world of female police officers through the stories of 25 women who have been or are currently police officers in Seattle Washington. It's an exciting project, the first ever on the record, in their own name account of what is was like to be "first."

When a book about female police officers is the topic, everyone who hears about it has some very clever suggestions for cover art. Angie Dickinson. Angie Dickinson in handcuffs. Angie Dickinson in uniform. Angie Dickinson not in uniform. Sheesh.

Then I saw this:

Whaddaya think??

Having the King on the cover will definitely draw attention to the book. It looks like he's giving her a ticket : ) Perhaps a second photo as well, something more recent to show the then and now aspect? Just a thought.

As for the Angie Dickinson suggestions, I think you gave the perfect response.

Ha! My first thought matched Cathy in AK's -- that he was writing her a ticket (or maybe signing a traffic citation).

Great photo. I don't suppose she's got a gun in that hidden right hand?

I see several police uniforms all in a row, ending with one short one.

Love the picture.

I for one am glad that she doesn't appear to be smitten by him, not all weak in the knees, despite the top three buttons of his shirt being undone.

Thank you very much, thank you.

Angie Dickinson and Elvis?!?

Actually, I think the picture works well with the title (a different shade of blue... blue suede shoes... a police person doing something not normally associated with the uniform).

*sigh*

I'd love to have Elvis on my book's cover.

Sounds like a great book-kudos to Adam.

Cited for unsafe movements? Careless and reckless gyrations?

Okay, I'll stop, but I wondered if the lady officer in the picture was one of the officers featured in the book? That would make it better for me.

Or--signing the bill for one peanut butter and nanna sandwich? Okay, this time I'm really sorry...
