No, I'm not dead

but you wouldn't know it to listen to me, or how far behind I am on my email.

Yes, the galloping crud has galloped right over me.

I'm horizontal and thinking clean healthy thoughts. It's a real challenge, lemme tell ya.

Allow me to be the first to wish you a speedy verticalness. Hope you will be back swimming in Scotch soon. Your blog just isn't the same without you.

Feel better, Janet.

I've been battling something for THREE SOLID WEEKS. So many have it that the doctors think it could be a strain of the flu not covered by the flu shot (which I never get anyway).

I know you have an upcoming trip, so I hope you feel well enough to travel.

Oh yes. The crud is everywhere right now. We're ususally quite healthy - even I ended up at the doc begging for antibiotics. Speedy recovery!

Try 2 tsp of apple cider vinegar every few hours. Clears your head up. Doesn't taste as bad as you'd think.

straight vinegar?
You gotta be joking!
I may be known to drink firewater from time to time, but sheesh, vinegar?

Butting in here. Kim is right. If your throat is sore, a mixture of honey and vinegar is just the thing. The vinegar kills any bacteria growing there (strep, anyone?), and the honey helps coat it (and makes it a bit more palatable). If you can't stomach the idea of swallowing the vinegar, toss a small salad with it. That's what I do, and it works.

Dear Janet,

When I get sick that woman who thinks she owns me sends for Dr. Wilson. She's a very good veterinarian. Would you like her number. She makes house ... well barn ... calls.

I'm sorry your sick. When I'm sick hay and dried leaf salad doesn't appeal to me nearly as much as it usually does. Try hot oatmeal with lots of butter and milk. And toast. Pixies eat toast when they're depressed or sick. Goats don't, but it occurs to my that you may not actually be a goat.

So read a good book! (My mistress suggests hers) .... or is that too much like being at work?

Say ... did you know that you can't eat the pages of an ebook? That seems like a waste to me. With print books, if you don't like them (assuming you are a goat) you can always eat the paper ... for roughage at least. I can think of a few authors whose works are best digested that way. I'd post the list, but someone would sue me.

Best regards and wishes for restored health and mental equanimity (is that a word?),

my mistress said i have to write back and say i meant: "I'm sorry you're sick."

She made a big deal out of my misuse of a possesive pronoun in place of a contraction. Sometimes I wish I could put her in a contraction ... or is that contraption? Anyway, I'm running away from home for the day.

Whiskey. I'll stop pestering you until you feel good enough to rail at me.

We're all very sad to hear you are sick. I've a feeling an envelope covered in brightly-colored marker may shortly be on its way to you.

Hot tea is good. Hot tequila is better.
